The Old Town Hall in Regensburg is a place steeped in German democratic history. 1245, Emperor Frederick II granted the city municipal self-government. Imperial diets were held here from the Middle Ages until 1806. During the Perpetual Imperial Diet, Regensburg was a center of European politics for 143 years.
