An european search for traces of cultural food production processes
Know your food, know your culture
In 2019, under this motto, groups of schoolchildren started with their first project days in Regensburg to set out on a search for traces of typical local food products and their production processes. In doing so, the connection between food and the culture typical of the country was always established. Under the title "from nature to product", the project also included possibilities for economic activities. Mixed-nationality groups of pupils "walked along" with shepherds, cotton producers, fishermen or winegrowers and learned about the production or manufacturing processes.
In addition to the UNESCO project school (interested school: cooperation at country level) Gymnasium Lappersdorf, the following schools were involved: Liceo Scientifico P.S. Mancini from Avellino / Italy, Zespol Szkol Budowlanych w Braniewie / Poland, 4 Geniko Lykeio Larissa / Greece and College Saint Jean de la Croix / France.
The first project meeting was held in October 2019. Regensburg welcomed students* and teachers from Poland, Italy, Greece and France.
On October 19, the students organized a "food festival" in the inner courtyard of the Thon-Dittmer-Palais with regional delicacies prepared by the students* themselves with the help of teachers and experts.
Currently we are working on a publication about the project. It will be released and prepared for download on our Homepage by End of February 2020!
