Man is the measure of all things here

In Regensburg, humanity remains the measure of all things. In spite of having 150,000 residents, people on the street still look you in the face. People greatly enjoy living and working in the old town centre, where traffic is restricted. You can wander through the streets on a shopping tour and really "feel" the city. Every evening, the city is transformed into a row of celebrations, unashamed to be compared with well-known party towns in more southern countries.

Restaurants, bistros, bars and diners total more than 500, giving Regensburg's inner city a "pub density" said to beat even Dusseldorf. No wonder many students don't want to leave after finishing their courses. This makes for a huge potential in new business and high numbers of qualified workers.

The unique atmosphere of the 2000-year-old city with a human heart may be a reason for its unusually high number of registered clubs. The residents' highly developed sense of community can be seen in many private initiatives taking professional action to preserve the old town. The people of Regensburg love their city, especially the old sections. Their satisfaction with the place they live reaches the highest levels recorded in Germany.
