A changing city

Since the 1960's, Regensburg has been in a consistent state of extensive change from a medieval city to a modern metropolis, while keeping hold of its human heart.

The swift development of the tertiary schools with currently around 20,000 students was an effective wake-up call for the city in the Danube's northernmost bend, but it's only one part of the changing scene. In the same breath we must mention the systematic building-up of modern industries all the way through to biotechnology, which also creates large numbers of new, highly qualified workers in Regensburg and in the whole region, where many sub-contractors are located.

But this true story is certainly not over yet. In the 21st century, projects worth millions of euros are stimulating the city's mood and trade levels in politics and economy - accompanied by a decent and visible construction boom.
